Landscape Design Basics
In order for a dacha or local area to look decent, often neither high professionalism nor significant financial costs are required. Anything can be used: broken bricks, stones, plastic bottles, old watering cans and much more.
Tire flower bed
For example, an alpine slide, which is the object of dreams of many owners of suburban areas, can easily be built without the involvement of specialists. The most important thing is not to be afraid to experiment and boldly combine different items and objects.
Interesting. Often old junk, which, it would seem, is time to throw away, can do a good job in decorating the territory.
So, for example, an old rickety chair will make a beautiful stand for a flowerpot. An old chest of drawers, if painted and decorated accordingly, can decorate any blank wall by planting bright flowers in its drawers.
More complex structures can be made from scrap materials, for example, with a metal rod and flower pots on hand, you can build a very interesting vertical flower bed.
Among domestic gardeners and owners of suburban areas, flower beds made from tires are in fairly high demand. They will be discussed further.
Can't you harness it to one cart?
Look at fig. on right. Isn’t it true, there a flowerbed made of tires with minimal labor is integrated into the plant ensemble as organically as rubber tires themselves generally allow. In this case, the secret is that the entire ensemble is designed in 3 primary colors - red, green, blue. Significant elements (flowers) are bright red. The blue color farthest from red is whitened to the point that it appears blue (although in the spectrum it is still blue, only very pale) and, according to the rules of contrast, emphasizes the red accent on a green, medium-saturated background. The author of this composition cannot be denied taste - both contrast and harmony of color shades are skillfully used at the same time. If you are not sure of your taste or are just hoping to develop it, a flowerbed made of tires with your own hands can most easily be organically blended into the surrounding environment using only color and brightness contrasts - they are easier to work with for a person with an “untrained” eye.
Decoration with contrasts
The rules for the full use of color contrasts in decorative design are quite complex, ambiguous even for noble materials, and their use requires quite thorough special training. But, just like a paper airplane still flies, a flower bed made of tires can be quite simply aesthetically coordinated with the surrounding contrasts.
In this case, it is better for novice amateur designers to initially focus on, technically speaking, the main design cases. In this aspect (rubber frame of flowers on a private plot) there are only 4 of them (see also fig.):
Application of color contrast rules for the design of tire beds
- The plot is small (for example, 6 acres), moderately or insufficiently well-groomed (well, you can’t get around to it), the development is dense (a holiday village, a suburb with individual houses. The rubber frame can be solid, large, high (there is already a lot of man-made stuff around ); its color scheme is neutral depending on the general state of the surroundings - the more well-groomed the area, the more black and white approach 50% gray, but do not merge into one. The flowers in the flowerbed are bright, contrasting both in the frame and with the general background. For example, if the house and fence nearby are of warm colors (wooden), then you can plant a delphinium or something else blue in the flowerbed;
- The level of arrangement and general design of the site is the same, but it itself is larger and surrounded by wildlife. The size of the flower bed is also any possible. Its background color matches the surrounding color, contrasting in brightness and/or saturation: if the greenery around is lush, then it is paler than it, and if the general background is modest, but a little brighter than it. The leaves of the flowers in the flowerbed are in any case darker and more saturated in tone than the background of the frame. There are more colors, extreme spectral shades: red-orange, turquoise, blue, indigo, violet. Contrasting elements of framing design are in the middle range between the background and colors; in this illustration, yellow (middle between red and green);
- The plot is of any size, but well maintained, equipped and tastefully decorated. The first rule is that the rubber frame of the flowerbed should not stick out in the literal sense. That is, if you have acquired a huge tire from special equipment for your flowerbed, bury it in the ground at 1/2-2/3 of the height. But flowerbed drainage (see below) is still needed! In this case, even more than in a flowerbed made of a tire lying on the ground! Color contrast of tire paint – any according to paragraphs. 1 and 2, but subdued in brightness and saturation and in harmony with the general design style. For example, at pos. 3 fig. painting the tire light yellow on a pale gray background gives, if not entirely convincing, then an acceptable imitation of a stone; although natural stone is still better, see below. In this case, the greenery in the flowerbed does not have to stand out very much, and the flowers can be anything, incl. soft neutral tones;
- The plot is tiny to the point of being completely impossible to plant and develop. Flowers in a flowerbed contrasting with the general background. The color of the rubber frame matches the flowers and greenery in the flowerbed. Perhaps even the ground in it.
Note: do not plant exquisite flowers - roses, gladioli, dahlias, chrysanthemums, etc. - in a tire bed. They will have the look of degenerate aristocrats in a brothel. Plant flowers that are elegant, but simple and unpretentious.
Figures as a means of design
Read the word “design” carefully. Yes, that's right. Its root is the same as the word "form". Shaping in the strict sense is giving something its proper form. The shape of the tire is visually simple, rational and as such is quite widely used in applied arts. But topologically it is a rather complex object and can be transformed into topologically equivalent or simpler other forms - decorative figures - in not very complex ways. We will return to them later in the technological sections, but for now let’s note: some DIY tire crafts are quite suitable as a frame for a flower bed. However, in this case, it is imperative to take into account the psychological factor: what hidden associations will arise for you, your household and guests when looking at the flowerbed. In principle, they can be anything, as long as they contain flowers or something related to them.
Examples of decorative figures made from tires for flower beds
Flowers in the swamp
A flowerbed in the popular tire frog (see picture) can be as shaggy and unkempt as you like, and at the same time it will only slightly improve the neglected area. Frogs live in the swamp, and there is duckweed and mud. Everything together looks quite natural. It is better to plant simple yellow-orange flowers in the fairy-tale frog princess, for example. marigold. The royal frog will not live in a rotten swamp, and how could Ivan Tsarevich not drown in it? A living swamp can be beautiful and in bloom it is mostly yellow, see fig. on right. But large white, blue, pink flowers do not suit a flower bed made of tires: there will be an association with water lilies, which grow in fairly deep, clean water. An exception is if the frog flowerbed is near an artificial reservoir, where these same nymphs, water hyacinth, etc. are already growing.
The hippo flower bed made of tires is directly associated with flowers. A hippopotamus is an aquatic animal, and a tropical swamp in bloom is luxurious if you don’t climb into it. The hippopotamus often comes to land covered in flower garlands. Hippopotamuses are herbivores, and if a flower-hippopotamus opens its mouth at a plant that looks like an arrow leaf or chastukha, the direct association turns into a funny fiction.
Note: exactly the same associative structure is evoked by the turtle flower bed made of tires, see fig. Octopus (ibid.) The decision is, of course, controversial. There are crabs in the sea carrying sea anemones, bright as exotic flowers, on their backs, but they are not blue.
How to make a turtle and octopus flowerbed from tires
How to make a horse or donkey from a tire
Even more fun is a horse or donkey carrying a flowerbed on a cart. The obvious association here is that the florist sent his goods for sale, but more complex ones can arise, even fairy tales. For example, about a smart donkey who saved his master from the machinations of an evil wizard and even married him to a beautiful princess. And cutting a donkey (horse, pony) from a tire is not at all as difficult as it might seem, see fig. on right.
A flowerbed in a ladybug will not evoke aesthetically effective associations for a person with average imagination. Well, she's useful and pretty. Well, there are some in the garden. But what do flowers have to do with it? Ladybugs are predators that feed on aphids, and they do not attack flowers, only greens. The hedgehog craft is exactly the same: even in fairy tales, hedgehogs don’t carry flowers on themselves, because hedgehogs don’t care about flowers.
Pattern of a flower bed made from a tire, stylized as a swan
The most difficult case is a swan made from a tire, also a very popular craft. It can be a decoration for the site, but in nature swans are fish-eating birds of clean water and do not land on stagnant, overgrown bodies of water. The graceful forms and splendor of this bird are strongly associated with flowers, but it is difficult to imagine a swan with vegetation on its back. The solution in this case is a flower bed (see below), stylized as a swan. To make it immediately clear, its form is not living, but aesthetically functional. Stylization is a complex matter, but a simple flower girl, stylized as a swan, can be made from a tire according to the pattern in Fig. on right.
If contrast is not important
Contrasts and shape are not the only ways to write a rubber flowerbed into the landscape. In a well-equipped area, on the contrary, color harmony can be no less effective. This is a powerful method, but requires developed taste.
Left and right on the trail. rice. examples of the correct use of color harmony. In different ways and in different keys (if the authors thought about them), but equally strong. On the left, visually completely neutral tires are laid out in such a way that the plant composition absolutely dominates them. On the right, one tire has been transformed into a vase (see below), painted harmoniously with the flower arrangement.
Examples of correct and directional design of tire flower beds
In the center are their antipodes. Above - where is the flower bed? Pieces of pipes with plastic scraps are not plants. Below - a hanging flower bowl made from solid tires will never harmonize with living plants. Because it is weighty, rough, visible, no matter how decorated it is. Mayakovsky is not as simple as it seems. Although he himself never seemed to understand it. One of the then poetesses (like Tsvetaeva) responded to Mayakovsky’s suicide as follows: “This man has been killing the poet in himself for twenty years. In the end the poet rose up and killed the man.”
The closer to nature, the better
On the contrary, it’s worse. The tire is an unnatural creation. There is nothing in nature that is functionally analogous to it, but quite a lot is similar to it in form. And if you strive to give a flowerbed of tires a natural appearance, then these same tires need to be camouflaged as best as possible, using their exact shape.
The best way is to hide the rubber base completely, lining it, for example, with stones, pos. 1 in Fig. Stones are perfectly glued to rubber with glue for foam blocks, the work of laying out the border is accelerated several times, and in nature there are vents of quiet fumaroles of the same regular shape, filled with earth and overgrown with bright flowers that stand out sharply against the general background - the soil in frozen natural wells is formed very fertile.
Different ways to design a flowerbed made of tires
Flower gardens in the form of a tea set made from tires are a controversial solution, although it is possible to grow flowers in real cups and teapots. In any case, the flower arrangement should dominate its tire design in all respects (pos. 2), and what is in pos. 3 – real bad taste. As for the poses. 2, then double dominance is used here: dark over light and warm tone over cold (with equal saturation). As a result, the non-vegetal forms of the teapot and cup add piquancy to the composition, but do not deprive it of balance.
Flowerbeds of the “seven-flowered flower” type (pos. 4) are criticized by many for good reason: their rubber frame sticks out visually even if there is lush greenery inside, strewn with large bright flowers. The flowerbed needs a border, no doubt, but if it is made of a material foreign to plants, such as rubber, it must be masked using any of the methods described. As for the shape, the actual layout of the flowerbed should be such that the contours of the border and partitions are arcs of circles. As an exercise, you can try to determine which of the flower beds in the video will fit under the tire frame:
Video: amazing shapes of flower beds
Surely…
...pot! Yes, this is an excellent means of decorating a flowerbed from a tire - it was invented specifically for this purpose. The shape of the flowerpot is directly copied from the flower. It’s not for nothing that flowerbeds in flowerpots are so popular: to make them, the tire has to be turned inside out (see below). The tread pattern, which is completely inconsistent with living plants, goes inward and is hidden by the earth in a living flowerbed, and the rubber base, thanks to the very shape of the flowerpot, is visually obscured. Therefore, a flowerpot made of tires can be finally decorated in any way suitable to its shape, as long as the design stays on the rubber.
When preparing to make a flowerpot from a tire, you only need to follow some simple, and even then relative, rules. It is advisable to make the festoons (petals) of a tall flowerpot using the wheel hub as the basis for the legs sharp and large, then a living bouquet of tall plants will look good in the flowerpot: cosmos, delphinium or, for example, phlox. For this, the folds of the scallops need smooth, wide ones, so you need to take a winter tire (see below) with a diagonal nylon cord, pos. 1 in Fig.:
Flowerpots made from tires
For a composition of low-growing plants (especially ground cover), a low, wide flowerpot with low rounded festoons and a leg made of a narrow hub or an overhead disk is more suitable (also see below). For such a flowerpot you need a summer tire with a cellular nylon or radial steel cord, pos. 2.
The festoons of flowerpots made from winter tires with nylon cord for European conditions (again - see below) turn out to be completely soft and practically do not work as a form element. If there is no choice of material, then in this case the tire needs to be cut into a flowerpot either without scallops (pos. 3), or cut them at intervals (pos. 4): since the shape is not maintained, it is better to dangle freely.
And the florist too
Flower gardeners sometimes call it a flowerpot, which is incorrect. A flower pot is a decorative shell of a flower pot without a drainage hole in the bottom. A flowerpot is a portable flowerpot for a mini-flower bed. In its bottom there is a hole for water drainage, covered with a clay shard or covered with a stainless and non-rotting mesh, drainage, and on it - soil with flowers.
A pair of stylized swans at the bottom right in Fig. with figures made of tires, these are flower gardeners. But in general, a swan made from a tire is more appropriate as a decorative craft that has its own aesthetic meaning, and flower gardeners’ products are longitudinally symmetrical, see figure:

Types of flower beds made from tires
To create flower beds from tires with your own hands, you do not need any special experience or knowledge. The most important thing is to have the necessary tools at hand and know the basic information.
According to the type of design, tire flower beds are:
Round flower beds made from wheels are the easiest option to implement. All that is required to organize a flower garden is to take tires, paint them in any colors, fill them with soil and plant the plants.
Interesting. To get an interesting composition from a material such as a tire, you can paint the wheel material in bright colors and, stacking it on top of each other, form high flower beds.
As for multi-level structures, they are created from tires of various diameters. They are placed on top of each other according to the principle of a toy pyramid (in order of decreasing size) and filled with soil. This design is perfect for planting hanging plants.
Multi-level tire construction
Hanging flower beds made from tires can be attached in different ways: to a pipe, with chains or a rope to a tree branch, etc. Just first remember to cover the bottom of the improvised flowerpot with some material.
Furniture made from tires - 14 photos
As we wrote above, you can easily make garden furniture from old tires. Of course, not everyone will agree to sit on rubber, since in the heat of summer it may not be very pleasant for the body. But if you paint it in bright colors, it will look really chic. You can also use additional materials, for example, put sofa cushions on chairs and benches made of tires for greater comfort, and use a rope to make an ottoman from an old tire. By the way, you can read more ideas for country house renovations from old things here.

Step by step instructions
Before you start making a flower bed from tires, you should decide on the dimensions and design.
Flowerbed in the shape of a flower
DIY flower beds made from tires look very stylish. To work, you will need a tire, a sharp knife capable of cutting thick rubber, and a marker (or chalk).
Flowerbeds in the shape of a flower The manufacturing work is carried out as follows:
- Marker marks the cut points.
- Cut the tire around the circumference in the shape of zigzag petals (oval, semicircular or triangular).
- The tire is turned over and, moving the knife along the thickening, a circle is cut out from the back of the tire.
- Along the circumference inside the tire, transverse cuts are made at a distance of 20 to 25 cm from one another, starting from the cut edge to the end of the tread.
- All you have to do is turn the tire out, and the flowerbed structure is ready.

Then you need to paint the product a beautiful color, fill it with soil and plant flowers. Oil paint is best. Other types of paint may peel.
Flowerpot from an old wheel
Flowerpot from an old wheel
Another interesting master class that will be useful is dedicated to making a stylish garden vase from a worn out wheel. To work, you need to prepare a tire that still has a disk, a knife and a marker. Then proceed according to the following scheme:
- A zigzag line is marked along the circumference of the tire, along which it will then be necessary to cut.
- They cut the tire. To make cutting easier, it is recommended to periodically dip the knife in machine oil.
- Turn the tire inside out. It is better to turn it out together and in parts.
- The flowerpot is ready. All that remains is the same painting work.
Important! Before pouring soil into such a vase, you must remember to put a gasket on the bottom, in which small holes should be provided to remove excess water after watering.
Daisy flower bed made from tires
This is another simple and interesting option on how to quickly make a flower bed in the form of daisies from a wheel. To work, you will need several tires and a sharp knife. In general, the work will take no more than half an hour. The step-by-step process is as follows:
- All tires are cut in half.
- A flower-shaped fence is formed.
- They fill up the soil and plant the plants.
Form the chamomile core from flowers. Alternatively, it can be in the shape of a circle, made of a material such as a plastic bottle (bottoms up) or stone.
Daisy flower bed made from tires
If you approach the process of creating flower beds from tires creatively, original ideas will not keep you waiting. Answers to the questions: is it worth using additional plastic material, how and with what to paint the wheels for a flower bed, and what to ultimately plant in a flower garden, will be found along the way.
Flowerpot parrot
To create an original flowerpot in the shape of a parrot from an old wheel, you will need the following materials:
- tire with shallow radial tread;
- a strip of iron for a clamp;
- knife;
- washers, nut, bolt;
- spanners;
- drill.
The work is performed in the following order:
- Using a knife, make symmetrical cuts in the tire 2/3 along the bead ring.
- The side part and tread are cut at a distance of 1/3. On the larger side, the side part is separated by means of a triangular cutout.
- The tire is turned inside out.
- The bird's beak is cut out from the side.
- A smaller part of the tire is cut along its entire length (the cut should be slightly larger than the size of the future beak).
- Using a clamp, insert the beak and compress the halves.
- Drill a hole with a drill.
- The head halves are tightened with washers, nuts and bolts. (To make the head narrower than the body, part of the tire must be cut off).
- A tail is cut out on the larger side of the tire.
- Paint the workpiece.
- A clamp is made from an iron strip, which is used to tighten the sides of the flowerpot (alternatively, an ordinary rope can be used).
- Color the parrot completely.
- Hang the pots on a rope or screw them with wire to a horizontal structure.
Pool made from an old tire
An interesting option is the swimming pool
from an old tire. For such a structure, you will need to look for a large tire, used on a large tractor or special equipment.
Preparing a pool is not difficult. The work will consist of attaching a material to the tire that forms a sealed bottom, resting on a dense surface.
For work you will need the following materials and tools:
- Waterproof material;
- Glue for rubber;
- Degreaser;
- Putty-sealant;
- Scissors.
Since the bottom of the pool will consist of thin material, you should select an installation location in advance that will not contain sharp stones, branches or other objects that could damage the bottom or cause injury. On the other hand, this area should not be soft. Otherwise, the glued material will probably come off along the seam.
At the first stage, you will need to prepare the surfaces of the elements to be glued at the place of their future contact. To do this, you will need to clean them of fat using any suitable means.
Next, the cleaned surfaces are lubricated with glue
and connect. At the same time, you should not feel sorry for it, since excess can be removed, and if there is a deficiency, the pool may leak. When the glue sets, you will need to turn the wheel over so that the seam is under pressure.
A day later, the place of contact with the inside of the pool is treated with a sealant.
. After an additional 24 hours, you can fill it with water and enjoy bathing in hot weather.
How to turn a tire out
It will take some effort to turn the tire inside out. To make the work easier, it is recommended to make large cuts - up to the tread. First, turn one side out, then, slightly flattening the tire into an oval, do this completely.
If you still don’t have enough strength, you should cut the part of the flowerbed opposite the petals in a circle to remove the steel cord. True, in this case there is a risk that the structure will not hold its shape well enough.
Tire work
How to paint wheels for a flower bed
When the structure is ready, all that remains is to paint it. To do this, the surface is completely degreased (for example, with acetone or white spirit) and allowed to dry.
The surface can be additionally primed, but this condition is not mandatory, since even without this the paint adheres to the rubber quite well. The painting process itself is no different from similar work at another facility.
The most important thing is to follow the paint manufacturer’s recommendations and choose a paint composition that can withstand temperature changes and the effects of negative natural phenomena.
Planting flowers and care rules
Having figured out the question of how to make a tire from a car wheel and how to cut and cover everything correctly, it’s time to understand what is best to plant in a flowerbed made of tires. There are, of course, no clear instructions as to which flower is best to place in flower beds made from DIY tires.
Most often, various annuals are planted in such structures. Cascade or ordinary petunias of various varieties look especially good.
Tire with flowers
Nasturtiums look no less bright. But when planting this flower in flower beds made from tires, you should remember that the crop does not tolerate transplantation very well. Accordingly, nasturtium should be placed in a permanent place of growth in the form of swollen seeds or ready-made seedlings in peat cups.
In addition, you can plant marigolds, verbena, violas and other not too fancy flowers.
It is allowed to plant perennials in homemade flowerpots. These can be chrysanthemums, carnations, daisies, decorative onions and much more.
The main condition is that flowers planted in tires must be unpretentious and require minimal care.
No matter how interesting the idea is, and no matter what type of flowers are planted in the impromptu flower garden, the structure itself should be placed in such a way that access to it remains free. This will allow the plants to be properly cared for. Only in this case will the use of tires as flower beds be justified.
As for caring for flowers, it largely depends on what exactly is planted, and does not differ from the manipulations performed with a similar plant planted in open ground or a flower pot.
Concluding the conversation about how you can make a flowerbed out of a wheel, it is worth noting that such a constructive solution within the framework of creating landscape design has a number of undoubted advantages:
- durability of the flower bed;
- good tolerance to temperature changes;
- almost zero financial costs;
- high level of aesthetics.
Rubber is a very pliable material, and the question should not be how to make a flower bed from a tire (especially since it is very easy), but which version of the flower bed from the many is best to make.

It's always nice to make something beautiful and useful out of a junk item. A clear example of such creativity is beautiful flower beds made from tires. They are not difficult to build, but their benefits are enormous. But the imagination of dacha masters is not limited to this. From old wheels, which often just lie on the road and pollute the environment, they make street furniture, sculptures for the garden, and even rebuild small children's towns.
What flowers can be planted in tires?
Most often, annuals are used for planting tires in flowerbeds. Seeds germinate for several weeks, so it is more convenient to use grown seedlings. When planting, the needs of each specific plant are taken into account. For example, for the normal development of bush petunia you need at least 5 liters of soil, hanging forms will require up to 7 liters.
Summer plants with beautiful bud shapes and varied colors are suitable for planting in tires. Regular and double petunias, bush or cascading, are popular. It is best to use modern hybrid forms; they form lush compact bushes with a large number of buds.
Nasturtiums look very impressive: orange, red, yellow. Nasturtium does not tolerate transplantation well, so seedlings are planted in peat cups in tires or swollen seeds are sown. You can plant decorative calendula and eschscholzia in rubber flower beds; these species form a beautiful composition. Another example of a successful color combination is silver cineraria and bright red salvia.
Suitable annuals include viola, verbena, marigolds, awl-shaped phlox, and celosia. Taller plants look interesting - lupins, cosmos, saffron, fragrant tobacco. As an accompaniment, you can plant ground cover plants, for example, alyssum with a delicate honey aroma.
Some gardeners plant perennials in homemade flowerpots. When dividing bushes, a lot of planting material remains; tires will be an excellent field for experimentation. You can plant small-flowered chrysanthemums, different types of carnations, primroses, daisies, daylilies, and decorative onions in tires. Beautifully flowering plants should be supplemented with aromatic herbs with elegant leaves - thyme, oregano, lemon balm, mint. They not only look beautiful, but also repel pests.
What are tire crafts?
Such a simple and unsightly material at first glance, like old car tires, in fact, seems to be specially created so that every summer resident can feel like a real artist and decorate his plot with real designer flower beds and original author’s sculptures. Without exaggeration, you can cut anything out of tires. Such crafts, along with those made from plastic bottles, will delight the eyes of the owners and guests of the dacha all year round, and most importantly, they will not require special financial investments.
It’s also nice that the benefit of the idea of making crafts with your own hands from tires is twofold: on the one hand, we recycle a wheel that polluted the environment, and on the other, we get an original garden decoration or flower bed.
Crafts made from used rubber tires amaze with their variety and the richness of the imagination of their authors. Here are the most common ones:
In the photo - flower beds made from tires
A small flower bed. The easiest way to make flower beds from tires is to leave the tire as is, just decorate it brightly and fill it with soil. Nothing complicated. Even a weak woman or child can cope with this, and such a flower garden will look wonderful.
This photo shows cups made from old wheels.
Flower beds made from old tires in the form of various objects. Make them more difficult. The tire is cut into two unequal parts and the larger one is turned inside out. It is worth noting that the edges of tires can be made in various shapes, it’s all a matter of imagination and sleight of hand. Using this technique, flower beds are made in the form of a mug, flower, or vase. A huge rubber cup made from tires looks very funny. And some craftsmen thus build an entire tea set on their site.
Turtle made from old wheels
Flower beds and sculptures in the form of animals and fairy-tale characters. A funny frog made of tires, a kind gnome, a mysterious unicorn, beautiful swans, a three-headed dragon, a turtle, a luxurious carriage, a huge telephone - it’s easier to list what is not made from this affordable material. The only condition is to think through the composition from the very beginning, so that there are no unpleasant surprises later.
In the photo - multi-tiered flower beds for flowers or berries
Multi-tiered flower beds made from several tires. The simplest one to make is a three-tier one, but the number of parts can be greater. Several tires of the same or different sizes are placed on top of each other or in a checkerboard pattern. A tire well looks impressive, stylized to look like a real one and equipped with all its inherent attributes: a chain, a shaft with a visor, a bucket. This flower bed can also be used as a vertical bed for growing berries and vegetables.
Tire beds for strawberries
A strawberry bed made from tires will take up minimal space and give a rich harvest. It is also perfect for growing seedlings, herbs, and peppers. From such a flower bed you can make a fence for a raspberry or currant bush, or make several of them and use them to delimit the garden into cultural zones. It is also worth mentioning that a well made from tires is often made not only decorative, but is used to disguise a drainage pit or septic tank.
Animals and fairy-tale characters made from tires and car tires
Such crafts will certainly enliven your summer cottage and bring a lot of positive emotions, especially to your children. One of the most popular tire crafts for the garden is a swan. To do this, you will need a tire without metal cord - it will be easier to cut. The cuts must be made according to the previously prepared markings on the tire with a sharp knife. The neck of the finished swan can be strengthened with an iron rod. At the final stage, paint the finished frame with the appropriate paint colors.
It won’t be difficult to make a funny giraffe, zebra or horse out of old tires. To do this, you need to dig a tire and a small wooden beam into the ground, paint and decorate the blanks in such a way as to convey the characteristic external features of a particular animal.
Also, outdated car tires and an old enamel basin can easily turn into a fairy-tale frog or turtle.
Crafts made from tires are an easy and economical way to decorate your summer cottage. Sleight of hand and a creative approach will allow you to create beautiful and funny compositions.

Useful tips for working with tires
Experienced craftsmen and craftswomen know many secrets that help them create garden sculptures and flower beds from tires with their own hands. They understand better than anyone how to make unique and inimitable handicrafts from old, unwanted trash. Here are just a few of these secrets:
- Imported tires are best suited for the job, as the rubber on them is softer and easy to cut. But in their absence, domestic products will do. In principle, they are quite easy to process and allow you to give crafts from them different shapes.
- Tires intended for use on winter roads are more pliable, easier to cut and easier to process than those used in summer.
- The longer the tire has been used and the more it is worn, the thinner, softer it is and the easier it will be to work with: cutting and turning.
- Before you start creating a craft, the material needs to be prepared: thoroughly cleaned of dirt, and degreased before painting.
- To cut car tires, use a sharp knife with a thin spine. You can check how well it is sharpened by running the blade along a notebook sheet, holding it suspended. If the knife does not cut or tears the paper, it is not sharp enough.
- It is more convenient to cut a car tire for garden crafts if you periodically lubricate the knife with machine oil. This will make it easier to fit into the rubber. Used oil will also work.
- When you need to cut out some shaped elements, markings are applied to the tire. It will help you achieve a more accurate and accurate result. It is most convenient to apply it with ordinary white chalk, or, in extreme cases, with a marker.
- The durability of the craft depends on what paint you use to paint the rubber. Both automotive paints and any outdoor paints are suitable for old tires.
- Before painting the tire, it is recommended to prime its surface. A primer with the addition of a small amount of PVA will increase the strength of the coating and reduce paint consumption.
- Paints in aerosol cans speed up the painting process to 20-30 minutes, and the painted layer itself is made more uniform.
- Decorative finishing can be made from scrap materials. For example, cover the surface with pebbles, bottle shards, or lay out pictures from colored plastic bottle caps.
It is better to paint a flower bed made of tires not only from the outside, but also from the inside. This way they will look more aesthetically pleasing, and the black rubber will not be visible from the inside.
Of course, every master has his own secrets, and it is impossible to list them all. And when you take up this fascinating business - tire sculpture, you will certainly have them too.
What paint to paint?
Before you start painting, tires need to be degreased . You can use a universal degreaser or a special one for rubber. The decorative design of the resulting structure should be carried out only with paint suitable for outdoor use and capable of adhesion to rubber. These can be compositions based on alkyd, acrylic or nitrocellulose bases, as well as automotive paints. In accordance with the chosen paint, a primer of similar composition is selected.
It would be optimal to use a spray gun or paints in aerosol cans; this will make the applied layer more uniform and speed up the process, since the finished tire product must be painted not only on the outside, but also on the inside.
Choose a color combination to decorate the balloons beautifully
You can choose a color scheme for a flower bed according to several criteria:
- Based on the shades of flowers that will be planted in the flowerbed;
- Based on the color combinations of nearby objects. For example, if the flowerbed is located on a playground, you can decorate it in the same cheerful colors as the elements of the children’s town;
- If you want to make a flowerbed a bright accent in an area where there is a lot of greenery, you can paint the balloons a rich color, for example, red. In this case, the structure will become a full-fledged and noticeable element of landscape design.
Important! A flowerbed painted in light colors minimizes the risk of soil overheating.
Several master classes on making crafts from old tires
As mentioned above, crafts made from tires are varied. Their appearance and purpose are limited only by the imagination of the master. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the basic models. After reading them, you will learn how to make a flower bed from tires with your own hands and you will be able to create original, unique and useful garden accessories yourself.
A simple flower bed in the shape of a flower
A small flower bed made like a daisy from one tire is the simplest basic model. You can make several such flower beds, arrange them sparingly and decorate the approach to the house. Sometimes they are placed on asphalt or tiled areas.
- One old tire.
- Sharp knife.
- Marker or chalk.
Mark the cut location with a marker. We will cut the tire along them, from thickening to thickening.
Before cutting tires, make sure that they do not have metal cords that could damage the knife. They are usually inserted into truck tires.
We cut the tire along the entire circumference with even zigzag petals of any shape of your choice (triangular, oval, semicircular).
We turn the tire over and work with its reverse side. Moving the knife along the thickening, we cut out a circle from the back of the tire.
Then, along the entire circumference inside the tire, approximately every 20-25 cm, we make transverse cuts from the cut edge to the bend (end of the tread).
After this, the tire needs to be turned out. The flowerbed is ready. All that remains is to paint it, giving it a more attractive look, fill it with soil and plant plants.

Garden flowerpot from an old wheel
You can make a beautiful garden vase from an old wheel in a short time. Such flowerpots look better in pairs in front of the house, on opposite sides of the door or porch. Let's look at a step-by-step master class on how to make them.
- Tire with disk.
- Sharp knife.
- Chalk or marker.
Using chalk or a marker, mark a zigzag line along the entire frontal circumference of the tire, along which we will begin cutting. Thanks to it, the flowerpot will look like a large flower with many petals.
Cut the tire along the marked line with a sharp knife. To facilitate the process, the knife is periodically dipped in machine oil (used oil will also work).
After the wheel is cut, we check whether there are any uncut sections left and proceed to turning it out. It is better to do this together with an assistant, slowly, in parts.
After we managed to turn out the tire for the future flower bed, it turned out that there was a tube in the wheel. It needs to be cut out and thrown away.
The flowerpot is ready. Its bowl was made from the main part of the wheel. There is no need to remove the disk from the tire. It serves as a raised platform and stand for the vase, and the remains of the tire at its base provide additional support.
All we have to do is clean, degrease and decide how to beautifully paint our new garden vase. When you pour the earth into the bowl, do not forget to put a gasket on its bottom so that the earth does not spill out and make several holes in it to drain the water.

Swan from an old tire
The most popular garden sculptures made from tires are swans. They are usually placed near an artificial pond, which gives the area a stunning look. You can plant grass in the bird itself, then it will seem that it is peeking out from behind the vegetation. Detailed step-by-step instructions with photos will help you make it.
- Sharp knife.
- An electric drill for making holes for a knife to fit into the rubber.
- Sander or file.
- Jigsaw.
- Chalk or marker (preferably a marker).
- Wire 5-6 mm in diameter (rigid, to give the shape of a “swan” neck).
- Plastic clamps (to shape the head).
- Roulette.
- Gloves.
According to the diagram, we mark the contours of the future swan on the surface of the tire using the following video, in which the author uses dimensions in inches, calling them inch in the international measurement system. Inch (1 inch) = 2.54 cm.
How beautiful and neat our sculpture will turn out depends on the accuracy of the markings.
Let's start cutting. At the initial section, we drill 3-4 holes at a distance of 3-5 cm with a drill and cut the tire between them with a knife. We insert a jigsaw into the resulting cut and begin to cut out the swan.
After all the contours are cut out, turn the tire inside out. We try to do this carefully, since careless movements in the thinnest places can tear it.
To make the bird’s figure look more neat, we smooth all the cuts along the contour with a sander.
To shape the swan's neck, we insert a wire into it. To do this, drill holes in the center of the neck and to the end of the body every 20 cm. We apply the wire and secure it in the holes with soft staples.
Forming the head. We make longitudinal cuts and holes, as shown in the photo, and using the same wire or plastic clamps we give the swan’s head the shape.
Our tire swan is ready. All that remains is to paint it and make a stand.
The swan can be painted white or not painted at all, leaving it black. We make the beak red. Swans look very beautiful in a pair: black and white.
Without a stand, soft rubber swans will not stand. You can simply take any tire and paint it, for example, blue. Thus, it will symbolize the pond. Or you can take the time to make it curly.
We make the figured stand in the same way. We mark the outline on the tire along which we will cut, cut the tire along it, turn it inside out and paint it.
Below is a video from the author who made these beautiful swans:
Using a similar technique, you can make any shapes from tires: animals, birds, fairy-tale creatures.
But, if you don’t want to bother with complex markings and cutting, you can do it simpler. For example, assemble a cute frog from whole tires.
Making a frog from tires is very simple. The body and head are assembled from one or several larger tires, eyes are assembled from small wheels, for example from a baby stroller, and paws are assembled from rubber scraps.
Flowerbed chamomile
It’s hard to come up with a decoration that’s easier to make than this flowerbed. Despite the fact that it requires several car tires, it can be assembled in literally 15-20 minutes, it looks nice, neat and will never be out of place.
- Three old tires of the same size.
- A sharp knife or grinder.
We cut all the tires in half, having previously marked the cut locations. Before cutting, find out if there are metal cords in the rubber. A knife won’t take them, so use a grinder.
To give the future flower bed an aesthetic appearance, you can paint the tires. It is better to do this in advance, immediately after cutting.
From 5 halves we form a fence in the shape of a flower and cover it with earth.

Very often, gardeners accumulate things at their summer cottage that are a pity to throw away, and it is not clear what to do with them so that they serve a second life. However, it’s worth imagining a little, and the garden plot will be decorated with beautiful flower beds made from tires and other available materials. And old tires that have already served their useful life can help in decorating flower beds.
How to make beautiful flower beds from old car rubber tires and how to paint them will be discussed below.
Original DIY ideas (3 photos + 1 video)
Frog
A cute frog can be assembled from whole tires. To do this, we assemble a body and head from one or several larger tires, and eyes from small wheels. We form legs from scraps.
Swan
In this case, the aesthetics of the finished product depends on the accuracy of the markings. The figure is cut out along the contour with a jigsaw, the tire is carefully turned out, and all cuts along the contour are sanded. To shape the swan's neck, a wire is inserted into it. The sculpture can be painted white, or left black, painting only the beak.
Mug
To design such a flowerbed, you don’t have to turn the tire inside out and cut patterns on it. You just need to arrange tires of different sizes, form a handle from pieces of rubber and paint the finished product.

Adapted to adverse environmental influences, automobile rubber is an excellent material for creating garden sculptures. With minimal effort, you can implement the most unusual design solutions that will become a unique highlight of any site.
We select and prepare tires for making flower beds with our own hands
Old car tires will be soft after a long period of use and will be easier to shape into the desired shape. You can ask your neighbors for tires - motorists who do not need them. You can also pick up used car tires at service stations, since they would otherwise simply be thrown into a landfill. And if you have the opportunity to choose between domestic and imported tires, then it is better to make flower beds from imported tires. Because tires from foreign manufacturers are much softer , so it is easier for them to give different shapes, turn them out, etc.
Dirty tires should first be cleaned of as much dirt and sand as possible. After all, it’s more pleasant to work with clean material, and the blades of the knives will become dull faster when working with tires dirty with dirt and sand.
Stages of creating a flower bed from tires
Before making a flowerpot or flowerpot from an old tire, you should carefully consider its appearance: in the shape of a bowl, which will have smooth edges, a flowerbed, whose edges will be cut off by waves, or a vase in the shape of a flower with petals and fringe.
You can come up with any shape for tires, but it usually always comes in the form of a “pan-lid”: the bottom of such a flower bed will be deep, and the top must be cut off. The contours of the cut can be easily drawn with ordinary chalk.
If the owners decided to make a flower bed from an old tire, then along the edge of the product they should draw the contours of the petals with chalk, and then cut along the contour with a sharp knife. Each of the petals should not be more than 12 cm. If the petals are made larger, it will be impossible to turn the tire out, and the shape of the flowerbed will be uneven.
When the tire is cut along the contour, then the tires need to be cut along the grooves in the longitudinal direction (the distance between such cuts is up to 10 cm).
In order to create a flowerpot from a tire on a leg, first turn the tire inside out. Many gardeners don't get this right the first time. In fact, turning a tire out this way is not easy.
Metal cord is usually cut with a grinder in several places. This saw cuts rubber smoothly. Cuts are made across the entire surface of the tire at an equal distance from each other (about 15 cm). And only then can you start turning the tire out. It should be remembered that it is difficult to turn out only the first piece of the tire; then it will be much easier to turn out the product.

How to cut a tire for a flower bed: options and technology
Any tool used to cut car tires must be well sharpened. Old tires can be cut with a shoe knife. To facilitate the cutting process, the blade of such a knife is lubricated with liquid soap.
It’s great if you can use a jigsaw to cut coatings. Using this tool, you can cut out various shapes and crafts from wheels.
To cut metal discs, you need to use a saw – a grinder.
Tires can be cut in different ways , depending on the shape of the future flower bed. You can cut the tires in half, or cut off only the top part.
How and with what to paint tires for a flower bed
However, it is not enough to give an old tire an unusual shape. After all, black or dirty gray flowerpots look ugly against the general background of the garden plot. Therefore, it is necessary to paint the outer part of the flowerpots, which were made from wheeled ramps.
To paint these rubber products, use any type of paint:
If the outer part of the tires is clean, then the paint will lie evenly on it, and will last on the tires for more than one season. You can use car paint to decorate flowerpots.
Craftsmen use aerosol cans of paint for painting work. In this case, you can paint all the prepared flower beds from car tires in a short period of time. It is better to use light shades of paint when painting tires - in this case, the soil inside the tires heats up less.
Most often, gardeners paint only the outer part of the tires. However, it is much more aesthetically pleasing to paint the tire on the inside (at least its upper part).
Decor options
There can be a great variety of design options for flower beds made from car tires - it all depends on the imagination of the owners and the availability of different paint colors.
You can combine different colors and shades. Moreover, you can paint the lower part of the flowerbed with a darker paint, and the upper part with a lighter one. You can apply an ornament of a different shade to the main color. However, do not try too hard when painting the tires - when the flowers grow, they can completely cover the outer part of the flowerbed.
Some craftsmen do not stop only at painting such flower beds - they can stick glass pebbles onto the petals of tires, creating the effect of dew.
The correct combination of colors when painting flower beds made from car tires, which is “consonant” with the color scheme of the plants planted in such flower beds, will give the garden plot a unique flavor.
How to make outdoor flowerpots with your own hands
One of the tricks for decorating and adding variety to the area is to place interesting outdoor flowerpots in some places. They may contain flowers, dwarf trees, and so on. Below we will talk about what kind of flowerpots there are, where it is better to place them, how and from what you can make containers yourself.
What types of flowerpots are there?
Previously, such containers, tubs and flowerpots were used only for growing capricious plants. They contained specialized soil, different in composition from ordinary soil in a flower bed.
Now different and beautiful containers are also used for ordinary flowers, in order to diversify ordinary gardens and verandas.
Conventionally, outdoor flowerpots can be divided into several categories:
- according to form;
- according to the material of manufacture.
As for the shape, the containers can be anything. There are both standard (round, square, rectangular) and unusual (irregular) shapes. Here everything is limited only by the imagination of the owner of the house or cottage. Various materials can also be chosen - natural (for example, stumps or logs), concrete, fabric, metal, wood.
You need to select the material for the flowerpot based on the general style of the area where it is located.
Each raw material has its own pros and cons, and care features.
Materials
Let's take a closer look at the common materials for making outdoor flowerpots and caring for them:
- Natural materials. Old tree stumps or logs can be used to decorate your garden. In order for such a flowerpot to serve for a long time and not lose its appearance, it should be treated with special means. Impregnations against mold, rot and insects can come in handy here.
- Concrete. Plastic and durable material that allows you to make flowerpots of various shapes. It does not require additional processing; you can simply paint it for an aesthetic appearance.
- Fabrics. Special materials that are resistant to natural phenomena are used here.
- Metal. This refers to beautiful forged flowerpots. It is very important that all patterns are treated with special paint, otherwise rust will appear and the appearance will be ruined.
- Tree. The bars must be treated with the same impregnation as natural materials, otherwise over time they will change color and become unusable.
How to choose a place for flowerpots
The location of the flowerpots largely depends on the wishes of the owner of the garden. But still, do not forget that they need to be placed appropriately and conveniently.
Flowerpots installed on the sides of the porch will enliven the entrance to the house. It is also good to place them near gazebos or summer kitchens.
If you have a wide enough blind area, outdoor flowerpots will be appropriate along the wall of the house - flowers will add a lively touch against the background of stone walls.
Bulky flowerpots are not appropriate in small gardens. Just like miniature ones will get lost in the vastness of a large garden.
In addition, it is important to calculate in advance what exactly will grow in the container. If you do not take into account the “wishes” of the plant, it will die and as a result the flowerpot will be empty.
A permanent location for flowerpots must be chosen carefully. These are quite heavy products, and it is not recommended to disturb the plant again.
Vases with flowers are good to highlight the entrance to areas of the garden and buildings. Don't forget about style - if you have a wooden gazebo, then concrete flowerpots will not work.
We decorate the site with our own hands
The easiest and fastest way is to purchase ready-made flowerpots in the desired style or order production according to your own sketch. But this will be an order of magnitude more expensive than making flowerpots for the garden with your own hands. This, of course, will require time, effort and imagination, but it is worth it. Let's give a few examples.
Made from concrete
Even representatives of the fair sex can cope with such a seemingly difficult task. The simplest DIY concrete flowerpot is made from any fabric, concrete mixture and a bucket. You can use the remaining mortar after construction work.
Place the fabric in the liquid mixture and soak thoroughly. When the entire rag is saturated with the solution, take it out and hang it on any bucket to dry.
Position the rag the way you want the inverted flowerpot to end up looking.
After the cement has hardened, the resulting pot must be removed from the bucket. Now you can start decorating - paint it in any or any colors. Here the flight of imagination is not limited.
To make it easier to remove the flowerpot from the bucket, it is better to lubricate the latter first. Mining oil or any oil will do.
There is a more expensive option - production using a special mold for flowerpots. You'll have to buy it. The result will please you - you will get a beautiful, neat flowerpot. And there is nothing complicated in making it - mix the solution, pour it into the mold and wait for it to harden.
By the way, you can even make the molds yourself. Cardboard and tape are suitable for this. Cut out the outer parts of the future shape, fasten them with high-quality durable tape. Then install the inner part (where the soil for the plant will be poured) and fill everything with solution.
The most labor-intensive way to make outdoor concrete flowerpots is modeling. Here you will already need a frame and some (at least minimal) modeling skills. Therefore, the shape of the flowerpot does not depend on anything. You will need to work in stages and use additional additives and primers.
As you can see, making flowerpots from cement with your own hands is not difficult.
Tires
Not the most difficult, but not the easiest option either. To work, you will need an old tire with a disk, chalk and a hacksaw.
So, first you need to draw the outline of the edge of the flowerpot (aka the cutting line) with chalk. This is done not in the middle of the tire, but closer to the disk on one side.
Non-studded tires are suitable for making flowerpots - they are easier to cut.
After basting, you need to make a cut. Be prepared for the cutting to be difficult.
When a tire is cut, it needs to be turned out. This way the vase will be made of rubber, and the disk will play the role of its leg.
Do-it-yourself tire flower beds can be covered with suitable paint or painted.
Stone
Designers offer an interesting solution - making flowerpots and garden furniture from mesh and boulders. They look very interesting and unusual, the work does not require any special skills, and most importantly, such outdoor flowerpots can be made with your own hands.
To work, you will need a special metal mesh, geotextiles and boulders.
We assemble a hollow frame from the mesh. We fill the empty walls with stones. Finally, we attach geotextiles to the walls from the inside - it will prevent soil from seeping between the stones and will allow water to pass through.
It is better to pour drainage at the bottom - a layer of sand or expanded clay. A beautiful DIY flowerpot is ready!
It will no longer be possible to move such a structure, so immediately choose a permanent place for it.
Tree
You can make your own flowerpots for the garden from wood. Even pallets left over from construction will do.
To work you will need:
- boards;
- sandpaper or sander;
- saw or jigsaw;
- nails or screws;
- roulette;
- pencil;
- impregnation.
To make these flowerpots you will need some carpentry skills. First you need to think about the dimensions of the future product. It's best to do this on paper.
Next, cut the boards to size.
Narrow bars can be attached to the corners or locks can be cut out.
After all the boards are prepared, you need to sand them with sandpaper and apply a special impregnation. The latter will prevent wood from rotting in any weather conditions.
When the coating has dried, you can fasten the parts. In the end, all that remains is to decorate the resulting flowerpots.
Different
Also suitable as outdoor flowerpots are barrels, an old wheelbarrow, a bicycle with a basket, several old pots, a prepared stump, and so on. In fact, there is room for fantasy to run wild. You can diversify and decorate your garden without large investments. You just need to find time and give free rein to your imagination. Finally, look at the photos of outdoor forged flower pots - they are very inspiring:

Original ideas for decorating a flower garden made from car tires
When decorating flower beds with car tires, you shouldn’t hold back your imagination. After all, from old tires you can build not only flower beds, flowerpots and flower bowls. Tires can be used in the manufacture of garden swings, armchairs and ottomans, various decorations for the garden plot, fences and much more.
- Tires can be cut in half and dug around a flower bed or along a path, separating the flower planting area from the garden path. These tires can be painted in various colors and can also be decorated with flowers or ladybugs, for example.
- You can install the main tire with petals cut out in the upper part on a pedestal of several tires placed on top of each other and painted in different colors.
- Flowerpots made from tires, mounted on legs like stools, look original. You can install a smaller tire on the lower tire filled with soil, and plant flowers around the circumference in the lower tire, and in the upper one place flowers throughout the entire space of the flower bed.
- Craftsmen carve various birds or animals from tires, planting flowering plants in the inside of such flower beds.
- Tires look interesting - flower beds suspended or screwed to the wall of a house or utility room.
If the garden plot is small, then it is more appropriate to place flower beds made of car tires, carved in the shape of a frog, a beautiful swan, a carriage from a fairy tale, a bright firebird or an exotic parrot. But on a large lawn, flower beds made in several tiers or structures made vertically will look better.
Idea three: country furniture
You can’t ignore the option of making comfortable furnishings from tires. Inside the house, tables, armchairs and chairs will look interesting, the basis of which is rubber, upholstered on the outside with materials of different textures and colors.
The simplest items, such as an ottoman
, you can make it from old tires with your own hands, spending less than an hour on the process. The upholstery elements will be attached to each other inside the tire. You can also use plywood sheets screwed to the sidewall of the tire using a screwdriver.
The only important parameter is the condition of the cord
. If it sticks out, then it is better to use another tire, since sitting on such a pouf will be uncomfortable.

A pile of car tires
Slides made from waste tires look original. The height of such slides depends only on the imagination of the site owners. Small slides made from several tires installed in a checkerboard pattern on top of each other look beautiful. Moreover, in each of these tires you can plant different varieties of flowers.
The size of such slides, both in width and length, and in height, depends only on the imagination of flower growers and the size of the area allocated for such flower beds.
You can paint tires in such a flower garden either the same way or by combining shades.
What flowers to choose for planting in a tire flower garden
It is better to plant flowers in flowerbeds made from car tires that will delight you with their blooms all season long. Flowers planted in a tire garden are usually unpretentious.
Moreover, you can plant flowering plants of different heights and shades of flowers. You can use climbing flowers.
These can be the following plants:
- fragrant tobacco;
- petunias;
- marigold;
- forget-me-nots;
- tuberous begonias;
- calendula;
- sunflower;
The free space between flowering plants can be supplemented with fir cones - this decoration looks interesting, but next year such cones have to be replaced with fresh ones.
How to paint
Flowerbeds from car tires have been made for a long time, but somehow monotonously: they installed tires in the yard, poured soil inside, and planted flowers. At best, they were still painted. Over the past few years, this idea has received new development; now tires are cut, turned inside out, and made into luxurious bowls or fantastic animals that miraculously hold soil with plants inside.
Tires turned out to be an excellent material for making flower beds - affordable, durable, and easy to process. They withstand any weather conditions well and remain attractive, of course, if they are painted correctly. This is usually done with oil, enamel paints or nitro paints; aerosol car paint works well on clean rubber. An aerosol can allows you to deal with painting very quickly and efficiently.
To prevent the flowerbed from overheating in the sun, the tires are covered with light paint and complemented with some kind of pattern. Just do not need to apply a very thick layer of paint; it may come off in pieces after alternate exposure to frost and heat. The expanding capabilities of such different materials as paint and rubber do not coincide; a thin layer of paint reacts to temperature changes along with the rubber, while a thick layer reacts on its own. Colors are usually chosen to harmonize with each other. But you need to remember that the flowerbed includes such an obligatory element, which is beautiful in itself, as plants. Therefore, before painting, you should think about the flowers or ornamental grasses that will be planted: if the tires are brighter than the flowers, then they will dominate.
What can be made from tires (video)
By combining different types and varieties of flowers, you can create unusually beautiful compositions in flower beds from old car tires. It all depends only on what colors the gardener wants to see on his site.
Old car tires can be perfectly used to improve the overall interior of a garden area. Most often they are used specifically for decorating flower beds or flower beds. And here everything depends only on the imagination of the owners - and there are a great many options for flower beds from old tires.
