Sometimes things just don't want to get off the ground, no matter how hard you try? And you just can’t figure out what’s causing the problem? It may be worth paying attention to the advice of Feng Shui masters who advise changing the space in which you live.
Everyone has heard the word “feng shui” at least once. What it is? If you literally translate this word from Chinese, you get “air and water.” This is the name of ancient Chinese art, which aims to harmonize space. Feng Shui masters strive to create an environment in which a person will feel calm and comfortable.
Basic concepts of Feng Shui
The most important concepts of Feng Shui include Qi, Yin and Yang, the main elements.
Qi energy
One of the main concepts of this ancient art is Qi. This is the name of life force, the energy that permeates everything around: people, spaces, objects, etc. This energy can stagnate in one place - and then problems arise in a person’s life, such as illness. Qi, on the contrary, can move too quickly - this is also not good, because it can bring with it, for example, poverty. Qi energy can flow smoothly, filling every corner of our space - this is the best option that brings good luck to every area of life. The essence of the work of Feng Shui masters is precisely to level out this energy: where it is in excess, reduce it; where it is lacking, attract it.
Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang are two forces, two principles that are in constant interaction. They compete with each other for supremacy. If any of the forces succeeds, the balance is disrupted. Harmony is achieved only when both these forces are balanced.
Yang is the active masculine principle, energy, movement, warmth. Yin is the passive feminine principle, calm and smooth flow, cold. These forces depend on one another and at the same time oppose each other.
Five main elements
By interacting with each other, Yin and Yang give rise to five main elements:
- Tree.
- Fire.
- Earth.
- Metal.
- Water.
If all the elements are balanced, then harmony arises. If one of them begins to dominate over the others or, conversely, its influence is weaker than others, problems begin in a person’s life.
All five elements are interconnected. Each of them either strengthens or weakens the other. In the diagram, arrows show the cycle of “mutual generation”, when the elements reinforce each other (water feeds the tree; the tree feeds the fire; fire turns the tree into ash, which feeds the earth, etc.). The lines indicate a cycle of “mutual suppression”, when one element oppresses another (a tree sucks energy from the soil, and it itself dies from metal, etc.).
Each of the elements corresponds to certain objects of the surrounding world. For example, water is associated with mirrors and glass. Her colors are blue and black. Naturally, all water objects (rivers, aquariums, waterfalls, etc.) and their images also belong to the element of water. The form of this element is wave-like patterns.
How to choose a site according to Feng Shui
The ideal site, from the point of view of Feng Shui, is one that has a rectangular or square shape. The house should be located closer to the center of the site.
When it comes to a garden plot, another concept appears in Feng Shui - animal spirits, protectors of the home. These are the four symbolic animals: black turtle, red phoenix, white tiger and green dragon. These four defenders are located on the site in certain places.
If you stand with your back to the front door, then you (and, therefore, your house) should have a turtle behind you - some kind of reliable elevation. It protects the house from the rear. The role of a turtle can be played by a solid wall of tall trees or a natural hill. It can also be a tall building.
In front of the house is the phoenix area. It can be designated as a small alpine hill, a flower bed with red flowers or a group of bushes.
To the left of the house (remember that your back is to the door) there is an area for which the dragon is responsible. If there is no natural elevation there, then trees and shrubs or a fairly high building (garage, bathhouse, etc.) can play its role.
On the opposite side of the front door is the tiger's domain. The tiger is a capricious creature, so everything that is there must be below the level of the dragon. This way the dragon can dominate and keep this aggressive beast in check. Otherwise, the tiger may get out of control and become unmanageable.
How to properly plan a site according to Feng Shui
The entire site, like the house, is divided into 9 important zones. Each of them corresponds to a specific area of our life. To improve it, you need to attract Qi to this particular place in your area. To find zones, apply a tool called the “Lo-Shu Square” to the plan of your site. In other Feng Shui schools, another tool is used for this purpose - the Ba Gua square. Fundamentally, they are no different from each other.
The bottom side of the Lo Shu square should be located in the place where you have the entrance to the garden plot.
Career sector
In order for career growth to continue, this zone needs to be activated with the help of water. A waterfall, fountain or stream will create movement - the same movement awaits all your endeavors. Do not create a pond with standing water in this area, because growth will be stunted.
Wavy lines are also a symbol of water, so in the quarry area there will be flower beds or paths of this shape. The color scheme is gray, white, silver or blue.
Wisdom Sector
In the lower left corner is the zone of wisdom, knowledge and education. To activate this area, create a place of solitude with a gazebo or rock garden. The color scheme of plants planted here should be sunny: yellow, orange, pink and similar colors are suitable. In this sector, place elements made of stone and ceramics. Let figurines, flower pots, bench, etc. will be the same color scheme.
Sector of trusted friends and travel
This sector is responsible for communication, so there will be a gazebo here where you can gather in a noisy group. It is better if it is metal, because... The main element of this zone is metal. Furniture, flower containers, or an arch with climbing plants can also be made from metal. You can also add ceramic products, because... they strengthen the element of metal. You should not place anything related to fire in this area.
Family sector
This area is responsible for the relationships between your family members. It would be good if you set up a gathering place for all household members here. To do this, equip an area with a table and benches, where there is enough space for everyone. Actively use wood to decorate this area. Plant shrubs and trees that will screen your family's gathering place from prying eyes. You can arrange a small pond here.
Children's sector
This zone is responsible for the future – yours and your children’s, for the implementation of new projects. This place on your site should always be filled with movement. If the children are still small, arrange a playground or sports ground for them here.
Build flower beds over which insects will fly. They will also add movement to this area. Actively use metal in its arrangement. You can hang, for example, light metal bells that will be set in motion by the wind.
Health sector
In the center of the Lo Shu square there is a sector that is responsible for the health of everyone who lives in this area.
This area must remain open so that the flow of Qi can move freely here. Instead of buildings that will impede the movement of energy, place a neat lawn or a round flowerbed in this place. Paths should diverge from the center in all directions of the site. It is through them that energy will flow into this sector and here it will accumulate.
Wealth sector
In the far left corner of the site is the wealth zone. To activate this place, plant tall plants here: trees, bushes or flowers. Flowing water will also help increase wealth - build a small waterfall.
Oddly enough, a compost heap placed in this part of the garden can also improve your financial situation (naturally, it should be well decorated). Everything is explained very simply: compost is a future fertilizer, and fertilizer gives a rich harvest.
Sector of success and fame
Are you having problems with this area of your life? This means that we need to start activating this particular part of the site.
This is a fire zone, so set up a grill or barbecue in this place. Install lanterns that will attract energy to this sector with their light. Plant flowers in red shades. Red color can also be added to the decoration of the elements that are located here.
Personal Relationships Sector
This is a very important area on which your relationships with people around you depend. This place is also responsible for love and marriage.
Arrange a romantic gazebo in this corner of the garden and install beautiful lanterns. Try to ensure that all the elements you place here are paired. It is better if they are designed in red and yellow colors. Build a small reservoir: the water will feed the soil responsible for this sector with its energy.
Under no circumstances should you build a shed or toilet in the area of personal relationships - choose a more suitable place for them.
Decorative elements in the garden
Very often, beautiful flower arrangements are placed in clay pots. Large clay vases with flowers look very beautiful in a small area of the garden.
Nowadays there is a very large selection of all kinds of pots of different shapes and colors. In this case, you need to be guided by the balance of the five elements and select the necessary decorative elements accordingly.
Naturally, the color of the pot should not be flashy against the background of dark trunks and bright greenery. It is not very good when it blends into the background of a concrete or brick wall.
It is advisable to place a decorative garden pot on a hill so that a person, looking at a beautiful spot, does not rush into the ground. With the onset of cold weather, the pots can be left to overwinter outside (if, of course, they are evergreen trees).
The soil in the pot must be dry enough to allow these plants to overwinter (for this, drainage is laid at the bottom of the pot in the spring). If there is water in the pot, then with the onset of frost, the water, turning into ice, can tear the pot. True, it can also be torn apart by external pressure if the pot is buried quite deeply in the ground. To eliminate this phenomenon, it is necessary to place the pot on a raised platform made of wood, stone or brick.
Brightly colored pots are suitable for establishments where you need to attract people passing by. To do this, choose very large flower pots or large flowerpots. If the garden is small, then large flower pots are not suitable.
You can use an old cast iron pot, painted in a suitable color, as a flowerpot.
Decorative elements include: sculptures, a gnomon (place it in a sunny clearing), sundials, grilles, figurines made of different materials. In some countries, animal figures are placed in front gardens, and since they are made of plastic, this is the element of Fire, and it is not desirable there.
It is necessary to carefully select the figures so that they are as similar as possible. Let's say you place the cat on a hill, and the turtle can be placed near a pond.
How to keep Qi energy in the area
Chi energy fills everyone and everything with vitality. For this reason, it is very important to be able to attract it into your possessions and make sure that it does not rush around the area, but moves slowly, filling everything around with itself. There are many ways in which this can be done:
- To make the Chi energy move slowly, use paths of winding shapes in your area. In straight lines, it will rush at high speed and will not linger on your territory. If you already have straight paths, you can change them slightly by planting them with bushes or flowers, climbing plants or trees with a rounded crown.
- Always keep an eye on the vegetation in your area. Remove all diseased, broken and dead plants. They attract negative energy that creates imbalance in your life.
- Light up straight paths and those corners of the garden where there is no movement of energy. Light will slow down the movement of Qi in straight areas and attract it to dark, abandoned corners of the garden.
- Your garden should not be overloaded. There should be room for free movement of Qi flows.
- Birds can add positive energy to a site. To attract them, place feeders in the areas you want to activate.
- A body of water can also add energy, because water is considered a symbol of prosperity. The main thing is that it is clean. If your pond has turned into a swamp, it is better to get rid of it altogether. Standing water will hinder the movement and growth of your well-being and all your endeavors.
According to Feng Shui masters, proper activation of zones can change your life for the better. Maybe it's worth a try?
Relationship Zone
On the right at the end there is a rather important sector. Canopies made of climbing plants, various gazebos, and benches are installed here.
Often the second entrance is located here, so arches and tunnels from the vineyards will create uniqueness for this place.
According to Feng Shui science, in order to smooth out conflicts, it will be effective to plant paired plants or install two lanterns.
By their appearance you can tell whether the owner knows how to get along with neighbors or acquaintances. First, Feng Shui of the house and site is created, and then plants and accessories for the garden are selected.
