How to make a flowerbed with your own hands: 18 options from scrap materials

How to make a flowerbed from stones

Stone is a simple and affordable material, often used to make garden beds, among other things. The best compositions are obtained from sandstone, limestone, travertine, slate, granite, basalt.

Alpine slide

The most popular option is the alpine slide. To make it you will need:

  • stones of different diameters;
  • black soil;
  • alpine plant species.

Alpine slide

The stones are placed in a large pile, sprinkled with earth and sand, plants are planted in the holes between them - the slide is ready. To prevent the stones from falling down, part of them (the base of the slide) is dug into the soil. An alpine slide may consist of dozens of stones, but may be limited to just a few pebbles.

Rockery

Rockery
For rockery, large boulders and small pebbles are used, located in a limited area of the flowerbed at a certain distance from each other in random order. Large stones are partially dug into the ground. The distance between them is filled with a dense layer of tracing paper in the gaps, between which plants are planted.

Stone terrace

Stone terrace

To create stone terraces you will need flat stones of different diameters. Wide stones are laid on the ground and serve as a base, smaller stones are placed on them in such a way as to fill only half of the formed base. The laying continues until the smallest stones are at the top. The finished terrace is filled with earth and various types of plants.

The simplest option is to create an impromptu fence from stones of various shapes, inside which garden plants will be located. The stones used can be fastened with cement or clay, and decorated with small tree branches.

You can use stones to decorate the space around a pond, decorate a ravine or hollow, or arrange a Japanese garden.

Manufacturing technology

The construction of a flower garden in a log includes the following steps:

  • Preparation of necessary materials and tools;
  • Creating a recess in the trunk;
  • Wood processing and sanding;
  • Giving the flowerbed the desired shape.

The final stage of work is decorating the wood and planting plants.

Tools and materials

To build a flower bed from a log with your own hands, you will need the following carpentry tools and materials:

  • Log;
  • Expanded clay gravel or crushed stone;
  • Waterproofing film;
  • Universal or suitable soil for the plants selected for planting. You can also use the land located on the territory of the summer cottage;
  • Wooden mallet;
  • Bit;
  • Chainsaw or electric saw;
  • Seedlings of ornamental plants;
  • Scissors.

Log flowerbedTo make a flowerbed from a log you will need expanded clay gravel.
Also during the work you may need an antiseptic and paint to protect and additionally decorate the log.

Making a deepening

To properly prepare the log, it is necessary to make a recess in its body. To do this, the bark is removed from one part of the log or from the surface of the entire tree trunk using a mallet and chisel. Having decided on the future position of the trunk, 2 longitudinal cuts are made from above. They are made using a chainsaw, which during the work process must be deepened by a third of the trunk. It is recommended to cut through the log, stepping back from the edges of the log by 30-40 cm.

At a distance of 5-10 cm from each other, transverse cuts are made in the wood. As a result, the trunk will have many cut rectangles on top, which are knocked out of the log using a chisel and mallet.

The work continues until a depression suitable for a flower bed is formed inside the trunk.

Processing and grinding

In order for a flower bed made of logs, created with your own hands, to please the owners of the site for more than one year, the wood inside must be treated with an antiseptic. Outside, as well as along the end cut line, the wood is carefully sanded using medium-grain sandpaper. This will ensure a more even and smooth surface of the log flower bed.

Log flowerbed
Don’t forget to treat the log flower bed with an antiseptic

At this stage, the wood should be treated with an antiseptic. Also, to protect the surface and improve the appearance of the base for the flower bed, the wood can be varnished.

Giving the desired shape

When creating a flower bed by fencing it with round or rounded logs, it is easy to give the flower bed any shape. To do this, you just need to think through the geometry of the flowerbed in advance and make a border of wood before planting flowers. At the same time, using the principle of placing borders inside an already fenced part of the site, you can create multi-level flower beds.

Using a log as a flowerbed, when pruning it, you should first of all try to play with the natural shape of the tree trunk. Trimming and giving the desired shape can be done using a hand-held electric saw, drill or hammer with a chisel. The final result depends only on the ideas and efforts of the author.

You can also give the flowerbed the desired shape by installing additional elements on the trunk. So, when creating a flower bed in the shape of a train from a log, decorative wheels made of suitable materials, as well as a cabin and a chimney, are additionally hung on the trunk. To complete the image, the locomotive can be supplemented with small logs decorated in the form of trailers.

Decorating and planting plants

If you want to highlight the flowerbed brightly, the outside of the wood can be painted. For work, matte or glossy exterior paint of any desired color is used. When choosing a paint shade, you should take into account the saturation and colors of the plants that will be planted inside the cut log.

The colors should be in harmony with each other. Bright contrasts are appropriate only when plants of the same type and color during flowering are planted in a flowerbed.

It is recommended to paint the log in several thin layers. It is recommended to carry out work before planting.

Before planting plants in the prepared flower garden, the recess in the log is covered with a layer of waterproofing material. It will avoid direct contact between plant roots and wood, which will prevent them from rotting. Polyethylene is suitable for this purpose. A layer of expanded clay, 5-7 cm thick, is laid out on it. The soil is poured on top of the expanded clay so that its height is 1.5-2 cm below the cut edge of the log.

Log flowerbed
Flowers must be planted in moist soil

Flowers are planted in loose and slightly moist soil. At the same time, if the log has several holes, recesses or cracks in the body, it is advisable to plant the plants so that they germinate from there too.

How to make a vertical flower bed

An interesting option for decorating a garden plot are vertical flower beds - voluminous, elongated upward structures made from scrap materials. A vertical flowerbed can be built from stones (in this case, the alpine slide described above will come out) or tires.

You can make a vertical flower bed yourself, or purchase a structure ready for installation at a flower shop. Wooden or plastic boxes can be used as flower beds. They are filled with earth, placed on top of each other, and hanging plants are planted in the existing gaps.

An excellent vertical flower bed can be built from polyethylene pipe . Required:

  • pipe with a diameter of 15 centimeters;
  • drill;
  • earth, peat, sand and drainage;
  • seeds of an ampelous plant.

Flowerbed made of polyethylene pipe

The pipe is filled with earth, twisted around any vertical support, holes are made in its upper part and plant seeds are planted in them. If the diameter of the pipe does not exceed 10 centimeters, then they refuse to plant hanging herbs, replacing them with erect herbs. They are less demanding on the quantity and quality of soil.

A large number of milk or beer crates can create a rather original vertical design. To create a flower bed you will need

  • metal arch (like a grape arch);
  • ropes;
  • a box with many cells;
  • plants that can grow in an unusual upside-down state.

The boxes are filled with soil, young plants are planted in them, the soil is compacted, and then tied with ropes to the arch so that the leaves of the plant hang from top to bottom. The work is painstaking and tedious, but the result is worth it. The lattice structure of the box prevents the soil and the plant from falling. For such a vertical flower bed, ampelous plants with a powerful root system are suitable. The boxes can be removed for the winter, or left in their original position and new plants planted in them in the spring.

Recommendations for choosing plants for a log flower bed

To create a flower bed inside logs, you need to use only those flowers and plants that do not develop a large root system and look vigorous. Suitable for these purposes:

  • Pansies;
  • Cornflowers;
  • Geranium;
  • Marigold;
  • Oxalis;
  • Saxifraga;
  • Forget-me-nots;
  • Periwinkle;
  • Hosts;
  • Petunia;
  • Decorative beans.

If you choose flowers that grow large roots for planting in a chopped log, then such plants will quickly die, having first destroyed most of their neighbors in the flowerbed.

How to make a flower bed from bottles

Bottle flower beds have obvious advantages:

  • they are mobile and easy to move throughout the garden;
  • a damaged flower bed can be easily replaced;
  • bottles can be decorated - painted, filled with sand, colored flour, grains.

A flowerbed made of bottles is a cheap and original decoration that takes a minimum of time to create.

Bottle fence

To create a regular flower bed from bottles, take multi-colored 1.5 liter plastic containers of the same shape. The selected area of the garden is fenced with bottles installed vertically, neck down. You can pour different colored flour or grains into each bottle. If desired, the containers can be painted. Flowering varieties of plants are planted inside the resulting fence.

Horizontal flower bed

If desired, the bottles can be installed horizontally in a circle, but this will require tying them with rope or gluing them together with a cement screed. The necks of the bottles are directed towards the center of the composition. It can be constructed directly on the ground, or on a pallet cut from the bottom of an old metal barrel.

Flowerbed of bottles

Bottles are filled with colorful sand, stones, and pebbles. You can use both plastic and glass containers. To create a beautiful composition, bottles of the same shape and size are taken. Soil is poured into the resulting space inside the circle, or a large pot with a flower is placed.

Bottles upside down

Bottle beds upside down

An original solution is to bury plastic bottles in the soil, leaving only the lower part on the surface. The bottles can be painted and perennials placed between them, which will prevent the root system of these plants from growing and drowning out other plants.

Add dynamics to your garden - use vehicles

If you have an old bicycle at your dacha that no one uses anymore, it can also become an excellent basis for a future original flower bed. The same applies to an unwanted antique car - flowers can be planted in the interior, in the trunk and on the hood. And if you use climbing plants, they will cover the entire car. And the old car, which just yesterday occupied space in the yard, will become the main attraction of your garden.

And for those who have neither the time nor the desire to tinker with a flowerbed, but have plenty of creativity, you can design the flowerbed like this:

If you have a burning desire to decorate your dacha with a flowerbed and, most importantly, have unnecessary things, then your dacha has a great chance of becoming the owner of the most original flowerbed in the area! The main thing is not to be lazy and to fantasize more.

How to make a flowerbed from perennials

Gardeners know the following varieties of perennials:

  • spring (most often these are bulbous plants - tulip, daffodil, hazel grouse, lily, blooming in early spring and ending flowering at the end of May);
  • summer (roses, primroses, phlox);
  • autumn (asters, chrysanthemums, hosts).

Perennial flower beds are created based on the qualifications given above. A real decoration of the garden in spring are primroses - snowdrops, hyacinths and crocuses . They should be planted as close to each other as possible, and the order of planting is absolutely not important. You can plant the plants randomly (in this case, the snowdrop will be adjacent to crocuses and hyacinths), or evenly, so that each flower is located in a row of its fellows. Circular flower beds look best with snowdrops at the center, surrounded by crocuses and hyacinths. The flowerbed is not fenced; in extreme cases, wooden posts and logs that barely rise from the ground are used.

Flowerbed of perennials

In order for the garden to delight not only in early spring, you need to take care of creating a circular composition of tulips and daffodils . The central place in the flowerbed is usually given to red varieties of tulips, surrounded in a circle by yellow or white daffodils. You can plant a lily . The fencing for such a flower bed is multi-colored bottles, stumps, and small planks.

After these flowers fade, their place can be taken by a peony . Usually peonies emerge from the ground much later than primroses and tulips, so such proximity will definitely not harm them.

Flowerbed of perennials

Every garden should have a place for a rose garden . Plants of completely different colors and shapes are suitable for filling a rose garden. Roses can be planted inside an old tire, a wooden barrel, or a large wicker basket. It is especially worth noting the fact that the more greenery and flowers are planted in the flowerbed, the more lush and beautiful the garden will look; the flight of imagination should not be limited.

To prevent flower beds with fading summer perennials from standing idle in the fall, you can plant asters and chrysanthemums . In this case, the garden will delight you with flowering plants almost all year round.

Flowerbeds in which flowering plants change are called regular by professional designers. Perennials are most suitable for creating such flower beds.

How to make a flowerbed out of brick

Brick fencing is the simplest option for creating a garden composition. For a brick flowerbed you will need:

  • brick (white or red);
  • cement mortar;
  • tools for laying mortar;
  • posts and tape to check the level.

Brick flower beds

The flowerbed can be square, rectangular, circular. The process of creating a brick flowerbed depends little on the shape; it looks like this:

  1. Site marking. Using a sapa, draw the outline of a flowerbed on the ground. The place is marked with a bright thread or cloth.
  2. Pit for the foundation. The depth of the pit is 0.2-0.3 meters. The bottom of the pit is lined with cobblestones and sprinkled with sand.
  3. Mixing the solution.
  4. Construction of the wall. The first row of bricks is laid on the drainage. Stakes are dug in on both sides of it, and a rope or thick thread is pulled between them. This will help avoid possible curvature of the masonry.
  5. Fasteners. The top layer of masonry is laid less densely, securing a series of metal stakes up to 15 centimeters high between the bricks. The stakes are wrapped with a thick layer of rope to create something like a small fence. The rope is painted in different colors; it is necessary to hold the flowerpots in place that decorate the top of the flowerbed.

The built wall is left for 4-5 days to harden, after which the required amount of soil is poured inside the flowerbed and the plants are planted and watered.

How to make a flowerbed from a barrel

To make a flower bed, you can use old wooden or iron barrels. The barrel is dug into the ground, its top is cut off, the sides are brightly painted, soil is poured inside, and plants are planted. The described method is the simplest; if desired, you can build a more original composition from a barrel.

Strawberry barrel flowerbed

Strawberries, cucumbers and other garden crops grow well in barrels. Barrels used for this purpose can be turned into real works of art. To do this, you must follow the following rules:

  • the barrel must be plastic or wooden;
  • the top of the barrel is cut off, square holes 10-12 centimeters in diameter are made in the sides (checkerboard order is observed) at a distance of 20-25 centimeters from each other;
  • drainage holes are made in the lower part of the barrel;
  • a plastic pipe is installed in the center, holes are also made in it (necessary for irrigation);
  • the barrel and the tube inserted into it are filled with gravel and earth;
  • the container is filled with water up to the first holes, after which plants are planted in them, the procedure is repeated;
  • The top of the flowerbed is compacted and the remaining seedlings are planted.

Using a barrel as a flower bed allows you to save a lot of space, which can be allocated for other crops.

How to make a flowerbed from a wicker basket

Wicker baskets with plants planted in them are a wonderful decoration for the garden. For decoration, you can use old baskets, willow twigs, or raspberry stems that you already have on the farm.

To make a wicker basket you need:

  • 8 stakes with a diameter of up to 3 and a length of 50 centimeters;
  • crimson or willow twigs;
  • thin wire or fishing line.

Flower beds made from wicker baskets.
Stakes are installed around a pre-selected plant, stuck directly into the ground, braided with twigs, and secured with fishing line. To prevent the stakes from rotting, their ends are placed in a plastic tube, the lower hole in which is covered with plastic film. A handle is attached to both sides of the basket using a handle. It is also made from twigs intertwined with each other. After the basket is ready, you can paint it, or leave everything as is, because the main decoration will still be the plant itself (it is better to choose a peony bush for these purposes).

The only disadvantage of the resulting design is the lack of possibility of its transportation. At the same time, an artificially created basket can be renewed every year, whereas a purchased basket is quickly required, and therefore it is impregnated with special solutions to protect it from moisture and drying out.

Hanging structures are also used as flower beds; in this case, hanging structures are placed in them.

How to make a flowerbed from construction mesh

When it comes to creating a flower bed, all the materials at hand are used, including construction mesh. To make a multi-level flower bed from a mesh you will need:

  • construction mesh up to 1 meter high;
  • tools;
  • pebbles, sand, small stones.

How to make a flowerbed from construction mesh | How to make a flowerbed with your own hands
Flowerbeds made from construction mesh

The mesh is bent so as to form a hollow cylinder. It is placed on the ground and secured. A mesh platform of larger diameter is created at the bottom of the cylinder; it is also attached to the ground and filled with stones and sand. Drainage is placed at the bottom of the cylinder, covered with earth, and climbing plants are planted in the holes of the mesh. The result of the work is the production of a so-called gabion.

The main convenience of the mesh is its plasticity and durability. Once made, the flowerbed will serve the gardener for at least 2-5 years. In addition to gabions, wonderful topiaries, frames for placing hanging baskets with plants, and paintings of flowers planted in a certain order in the holes of the mesh are made from mesh.

Creative ideas for creating a flower garden

By placing a large pot with a soil mixture inside on its side, they create a flower stream by planting plants starting directly from the neck. A curved line looks especially impressive.

If there is a small pond on the site, fix miniature pots with flowering plants on foam plastic and lower them into the water. Such floating flower beds add a romantic touch to the surrounding atmosphere.

An original flower pole is created from a chain-link mesh rolled into a cylinder shape. They fasten it with wire, cover the internal space with agrofibre and fill it with soil. Ampelous varieties of flowers are planted in the cuts cut on the side walls.

How to make a flowerbed from boards

A flower bed made of boards
In any country house there is a considerable amount of old boards that were once not used in construction, and are now waiting in the wings in order to be used for kindling. These boards can be an excellent addition to an existing or just planned composition of green plants.

To make a flower bed you need:

  • several boards;
  • bar;
  • varnish

A rectangle is formed from the boards, its design reminiscent of a children's sandbox. The boards should be selected wide enough, at least 15-20 centimeters. A kind of foundation is made from stones and cement mortar, onto which the boards are attached. The foundation is necessary to prevent the material from rotting, but should not protrude from the ground. The plank frame is fixed in the longitudinal and transverse sinuses left for this purpose. Building a flower bed requires measuring every centimeter, so a ruler, centimeter, pegs and threads to determine the curvature will not be superfluous.

The finished flower bed is filled to the middle with soil and flowers are planted. Since the flowerbed will be quite large, you can plant large hydrangea bushes, dwarf varieties of lilacs, and peonies in it. Before planting the plants, the soil is fertilized and watered abundantly.

What and how to make a fence from

The most common fencing for flower beds is brick, wild stone, boulders. You can make a structure out of brick in a strict “ceremonial” manner. Boulders and wild stone are more intimate, non-standard fences.

Since they have a decent weight, a foundation is often made for a brick or stone fence for a flower bed. Not if one or two rows are laid, but if there are four or more rows. If the device is being installed on a concreted area, you can do without a foundation at all, but if you are planting a flowerbed on a lawn or soil, then it is advisable to do so.

It is not even necessary to fasten two rows of stone or brick with mortar. You can simply lay them one on top of the other, cover the inside with geotextiles and cover them with soil. Brick flower beds made using this method will have to be adjusted frequently: the bricks can “move” out of place

First of all, remove the turf from the marked area. If you plan to make a high flower bed, dig a groove around the perimeter, about 20 cm deep, and 5-10 cm wider than the planned fence. This ditch is filled with crushed stone, compacted, and poured with liquid cement-sand mortar. For 1 part of M400 cement, take 4-5 parts of clean sand, mix and fill with water until it becomes sour cream. This semi-liquid solution is used to pour crushed stone. When the concrete has set - you need to wait a few days - you can lay out the border for the flower beds.

How to make tracks is written here.

How to make a border from brick or stone

Do-it-yourself flower beds and flower beds made within a fence of stone and brick are the most expensive to build, but also the most durable. They will last for several years without any problems.

Stones or bricks are placed on a cement-sand mortar, similar to the one used to fill the crushed stone, but thicker. There should not be much mortar between the bricks - 5-8 mm. If you are laying cobblestones or natural stone, it is easier to first lay them “dry” by selecting the dimensions, and then relay them with mortar.

A few ideas on how to design stone borders for flower beds and flower beds in the photo gallery below.

When building a round border for a flower bed made of bricks, it is more economical to use halves

Small mortar seams between the stones are not visible (they can be cleaned to a depth of 5-8 mm during the process, until the concrete has completely hardened)

If the flower bed is located near a wall, the wall must be treated with waterproofing (bitumen mastic twice)

The crushed limestone around the flower beds looks great. You can make flower beds from stones with your own hands in non-standard or geometric shapes

Ceramic bricks of different colors and paths sprinkled with tinted gravel and a yard with a flowerbed look great

This is a border for a cobblestone flower bed. A different technique was used - a roller is formed from a semi-dry solution, small stones are stuck into it

If you don’t need to raise the plantings that much, and you only want to mark the boundaries of the area planted with flowers, but you are afraid that if you just dig a brick in, it will fall, then you can dig a trench, fill it with crushed stone, and insert flagstone into the crushed stone (stone sawn into plates , it can be found in the section that sells materials for exterior decoration of the house) or standing to lay bricks. Spill liquid cement-sand mortar around the installed fence elements. After two or three days, when the concrete has set, you can continue working: fill in the fertile soil, but you can’t load the curb or step on it for about another month: that’s how long it takes for it to gain strength.

Using the same principle, you can frame a flowerbed with your own hands from slate or tiles cut into strips. A flower bed can be made from metal or asbestos slate. There are scraps left after installing the roof - use them. Here's what might happen.

Made of wood

It’s easier to make a fence for a flower bed out of wood: it doesn’t weigh that much. On the other hand, it is less durable. Flowerbeds and flower beds made with your own hands from wood can last for several seasons. Then you will have to restore or remodel them. It is used very rarely for ceremonial flower beds, but in a dacha or near a private house, a flower garden fenced with a wooden border is original and stylish. Especially if it resonates with the design style of buildings on the site.

Wood in any form can be used to decorate garden flower beds. Flowerbeds are made from boards, small-diameter round timber (small logs), blockhouse (boards convex on one side, similar to a log) and any other wooden remains. You can even cut a dead tree into logs, bury/hammer them into the ground, making such an unusual flower bed.

Halves of logs can also be folded into a fence for a raised flower bed

Even if the wood is untreated, it has its own charm

How to make a wooden border? Find a log of small diameter, cut it into logs of different lengths and split them in half. You will get blanks like in the photo on the left. They are laid on a flat surface with the convex side down, one next to the other. Take a flexible thick wire and use staples from a construction stapler or bent nails to attach the wire to the flat side of the pieces of wood. One wire is nailed at the bottom, the second at the top. The result is a flexible wooden border that can be used to enclose a flower garden of any shape (pictured on the right).

How to make a flower garden fence from wood

To prevent the wood from losing its attractiveness and rotting, it is treated with protective impregnations. They can simultaneously give it color, or they can be colorless. From such pieces of wood collected into a ribbon, you can make flower beds of any shape with your own hands. You dig a shallow ditch, a little wider than your fence, insert a fence for a flower bed there and cover it with soil, compacting it.

From boards and timber

In our country, wood is one of the most inexpensive building materials. That’s why they build a lot and often from it. They also make a fence or fencing for flower beds from wood. The easiest way to fence a flower bed is with boards. For support you will need several bars - not very thick, but wide. Approximately 50*150 mm and edged board 20 mm thick. Choose its width yourself so that several pieces installed on the edge will give you the required height.

Impregnate the wood with protective impregnations, when it dries you can begin work. First, the support bars are installed. They can be sharpened at one end and carefully hammered in without damaging the upper surface (put a piece of a block and hit it), or you can dig a hole about 50 cm deep, install a block in it, bury it and compact the earth around it. The bars are installed in increments of 1-1.5 meters, depending on how wide the flower garden is. The wider and higher it is, the greater the mass will have to be supported, which is why supports are installed more often.

Boards are nailed to the exposed supports. They can be stuffed from the inside and then the support beams will be visible, or they can be filled from the outside. In the second option, only the wall of boards will be visible. The joints of the boards should be on the beams.

Neat and beautiful

Made of plastic

There are many types of ready-made fences for flower beds and flower beds made of plastic or resin. They have special legs that sink into the ground along the edge of the planted area.

But we are not talking about them, but about flower beds made from scrap materials. For example, you can make a decent fence for a flower bed from plastic bottles.

They are selected by volume and color. This will make the fence look better. Then they cut off the necks at the same level and stick them into the ground. This is one mounting option for creating a low curb. The second one will be much higher. It can be used when fondanting taller plants. In this case, they take a wooden beam and nail the caps to it at a certain distance, so that the bottles are close to each other. Bottles are screwed into the caps. To make such a plastic fence for a flower garden more stable, it is pierced through with wire closer to the bottoms and closer to the narrowing point at the neck. The finished fence section is installed and fixed on the ground.

Despite the fact that the material is waste, if everything is done carefully, such a fence looks decent, pleasant, and attractive. Photos of fences for flower beds and flower beds made of plastic bottles are in the photo below.

How to make a flower bed from a stump

By periodically clearing the garden of old trees, many people are forced to solve the problem of uprooting stumps. This work is not easy, it requires the use of special equipment and considerable effort; it is much easier to turn a stump into a beautiful flowerbed. To do this, you need:

  • inspect the stump for the presence of bark beetles, treat if necessary;
  • determine the size of the flower bed;
  • using a chainsaw or drill, make several holes in the stump, after which the rot is removed with a chisel or pick;
  • Having reached the desired depth level, you need to use a drill and make several holes in the lower part of the stump at an angle of 45 degrees;
  • Drainage is laid at the bottom of the future flower bed (pebbles, small stones, and crushed stone are used for this purpose).

The stump is filled with soil, it is ready for planting. Tulips, daffodils, and hanging tulips will look best in an improvised flowerbed. The hole for the flower bed can be burned out.

How to make a flowerbed from slate

Slate is an ideal material for making high beds. For this kind of construction, 10-12 meters of slate, up to 0.8 meters high, and metal stakes for support are required. The process of creating a flower bed is as follows:

  • depressions are made in the ground for a trench;
  • the removed layer of soil is thrown to the side, it is less fertile and is not suitable for a flower bed;
  • slate sheets are installed vertically, they are half buried in the ground, the next sheet slightly extends beyond the previous one by the length of one wave;
  • the trench is buried and compacted;
