PVC gazebo: review of designs, and photo review of ready-made plastic gazebos

The need for a gazebo in the country

No dacha is complete without a gazebo, terrace or at least a canopy. Metal, wood and brick are relatively expensive materials; they can be replaced with plastic. A gazebo made of PVC is lightweight; during summer living, it can be made collapsible. There are practically no design restrictions.

To build a gazebo, summer residents often use a wooden frame, brick, and even improvised means. But you can choose a modern and convenient alternative - a gazebo made of PVC profile with double-glazed windows. Already more than half of the window openings are filled with metal-plastic glazing.

These windows meet all the expectations of their users. So why not use the appropriate technology in suburban structures, be it a residential building or a temporary shelter?

Frameless glazing

Frameless glazing of a gazebo is undoubtedly a very beautiful way to install glass. The absence of frames creates an overview of the surrounding landscape, but such glass will not retain heat. Frameless structures are often made to move to allow room ventilation. The structure is made of special tempered glass, which allows it to be as durable as possible.

It is important to remember that frameless glazing does not require the installation of mosquito nets or curtains.

Advantages of PVC

Traditional materials for the construction of a permanent gazebo are wood, metal, brick. In small summer cottages with temporary residence, gazebos made of plastic are increasingly being built. Mostly pipes made for installing water pipelines are used.

Advantages of PVC:

  • long service life;
  • simplicity and speed of installation work;
  • the ability to quickly disassemble and move the structure;
  • resistance to environmental influences;
  • low cost.

PVC gazebos are most often used only in summer. At sub-zero temperatures this material is deformed.

For construction, it is better to buy pipes with a square cross-section. They are stiffer and easier to work with, since fittings are used to connect the sections. This saves money because it eliminates the need to buy a welding machine.

Cold glazing

If you prefer to make cold glazing for your gazebo, then pay attention to aluminum. This material will amaze you with its properties. Aluminum is very durable, easy to maintain and use, does not corrode and is a very durable material. Aluminum profiles will protect you from unpleasant weather conditions for a very long time and reliably. Such glazed gazebos can be actively used in autumn and spring, when the temperature outside is 10-15 degrees.

Designing a summer gazebo

The most popular design is in the shape of an arc, but there are other options with a single or gable roof.

First you need to draw the building, create sketches from different sides, indicate the materials that you plan to use for the walls and roof. It is important to accurately calculate the dimensions of all elements and determine costs.

If tarpaulin or other similar material will be used to cover the walls, you should trim the edges of the canvas and sew loops for threading pipes through. No preparation is required if the walls are made of polycarbonate. When choosing this material, it is important to know that it is only suitable for permanent structures.

Separation by materials

The choice of material to be used for glazing depends not only on the financial capabilities of the customer, but also on the design features and its location. The most budget-friendly material would be transparent PVC film, but this option is rarely used, mainly for seasonal buildings. The main materials for glazing are double-glazed windows, polycarbonate and aluminum profiles:

  1. Double-glazed windows. You can use single- and double-chamber varieties. Sound insulation, sealing and thermal insulation when using double-glazed windows at a high level. You can also choose profiles whose cavities are filled with a special gas that protects from sunlight. But there are two significant drawbacks: double-glazed windows are expensive, and independent installation is not provided.
  2. Polycarbonate. The technical characteristics of the material are so good that the advantages of using it in construction are undeniable. Among them: a high degree of resistance to mechanical damage, temperature changes, fire resistance, versatility of use, the possibility of self-installation and adequate cost. The only downside is the annoying sound when it rains.
  3. For frames, it is recommended to use an aluminum profile, which is excellent for small, strong structures. This option is of the cold type, but you can always put a fireplace or heating device inside. This profile is quite strong and is not afraid of corrosion.

Stages of constructing a gazebo from PVC pipes

After marking the site, steel pipes are dug into the ground. The quantity depends on the project, the diameter should be such that a PVC pipe fits in, which will act as a support pillar. If fittings are used, then on the contrary they should fit into the pipe.

Using fittings, you can connect from two to three sections at different angles. This quality is used when constructing the upper trim. It will support the roof and wall cladding.

A roof is optional. It can be replaced by a canvas canvas stretched over the top harness. If you want to create a different design, you need to use fittings. They allow you to create any type of rafter system. If the structure has an arch or dome shape, a roof is not needed at all.

Frame covering

Polycarbonate is durable, protects well from precipitation and wind, but it is difficult to remove and is more expensive than fabrics. It is worth sheathing walls with it on a permanent building. If the gazebo needs to be disassembled for the winter, this is not the best option.

It is also not worth covering the walls of a plastic gazebo with a tarpaulin. The building will be dark, which is not very comfortable in the summer. You can make window openings; PVC film is suitable for a gazebo instead of glass. It is important to secure it tightly using a stapler or fasteners. This is the cheapest option, which is important for a lightweight, collapsible structure.

A PVC gazebo can be erected quickly and does not require special construction skills. After dismantling the structure for the winter, it is necessary to cover the support pillars well to protect them from rust and prevent injury to people.

Assembling plastic gazebos

What plastic gazebos certainly please is their ease of assembly. The corresponding event does not require the construction of an expensive foundation, mixing of cement, caulking, shrinkage, etc. The process is divided into the following stages:

  • Choosing a picturesque place to assemble a gazebo;
  • Purchasing the desired design (standard or with six walls, fully or half transparent, multi-chamber or summer);
  • Ground leveling;
  • Laying a 5-10 cm layer of crushed stone-gravel and sand, which will serve as a protective substrate;

  • Creating a bottom trim for the floor covering;
  • Assembling the entire frame, starting from the bottom frame and ending with the roof rafters;
  • Installation of roofing material on the sheathing;
  • Installation of double-glazed windows in empty openings;
  • Sealing seams with rubber seals.

If the structure will be used in winter and will require the installation of a lot of furniture with a heater, then it is better to arrange a columnar or pile foundation for it. There should be few supports - 4-6 pieces.

I’m doubly pleased with the opportunity to purchase a plastic gazebo, which includes strapping and sheathing for the roof. By the way, the latter can also be included in the kit and consist of triangular double-glazed windows.

The plastic gazebo can be assembled in winter. In this case, it is important to use so-called soft windows made of vinyl film as temporary glazing. And if there is no money for a PVC profile, then a round or profile pipe will do instead. It comes without reinforcement, but is still connected using adapters

Purpose of plastic gazebos

It is clear that thematic structures serve as a place for leisure against the backdrop of nature. The rest is quite comfortable thanks to the roof and glazing. And since it is impossible to imagine gazebos made of plastic without glazing, they are closed when ready.

At the same time, buildings made of plastic frames welcome sliding doors and windows, but do not withstand ultra-high temperatures well. Therefore, plastic gazebos are universal only to a certain extent.

They are often used by those who choose:

  • Modern style;
  • Convenience;
  • Durability.

Multi-chamber metal-plastic profile. The same can be said about double-glazed windows. Several chambers increase the ability of the assembled structure to store heat. In addition, there are rubber seals along the entire perimeter of the joints, which completely seal the structure from the inside.

Sliding doors operating in one plane are responsible for convenience. If desired, an appropriate opening and closing mechanism can be installed in the openings. But tilt-and-turn windows are often built in here, which allow for partial ventilation of the space.

Unlike wooden and brick gazebos, plastic analogues only accept electric and water heating, where the coolant is electric current and water, respectively. But it is not safe to install wood, coal and gas stoves inside a plastic gazebo

Shapes and material of glazed gazebos

Glazed gazebos for a suburban area or cottage can have a wide variety of shapes and design features. The most common are:

  • Quadrangular, which are quite popular due to their ease of installation and their high practicality.

  • Hexagonal or octagonal. Such structures are a little more complicated to build, but they also have much more space than square ones. Inside, you can successfully distribute everything you need exactly as planned in advance.

  • Hemispherical. These structures look like space objects on the site. You won’t be able to do it yourself, but experienced craftsmen can use the latest technologies to make such a structure from a metal frame and glass or flexible polycarbonate. It is an incredible delight to be inside during the rain.

  • Differing in complexity of configuration. Such designs are made according to individual projects. Usually they are attached to a bathhouse or some other structure on the site. It is very difficult to build such a structure with your own hands, so in this case you cannot do without the help of a specialist.

The combination of glass is possible with any building material. With wood, the glazing looks very organic, and there is no difference whether the gazebo is built from logs or timber. You can also find wooden glazed structures made of boards and plywood, but this is rather an exception.

A glazed brick gazebo is substantial enough to be used as a summer kitchen and usually requires the installation of a barbecue. But such structures are much more expensive than wooden ones, due to the need to install a good foundation not only for the walls, but also for the stove.

Metal frames in combination with glass can be called a classic solution, as they look most harmonious with each other. Here it is possible to glaze not only the walls, but also the roof.

The choice of the majority is PVC gazebos

The best option, especially for those who visit their dacha more often in the summer, are PVC gazebos. They are perfectly adapted to any weather conditions. Frost-resistant and can cope with even the most abnormal heat. Plastic gazebos are distinguished by the fact that their assembly system is simple and fast. And no one was able to identify the minuses, as such.

Let's talk about the advantages:

  1. Durability – once installed, it will serve you faithfully for up to 50 years.
  2. The plastic itself, like PVC film, is completely impervious to weather conditions. Be it rain or shine.
  3. Its construction does not require special professional skills. And assembly and disassembly is very fast.
  4. Building materials (plastic) are much cheaper than metal or wood.
  5. The design is lightweight, which means it can be easily moved to another recreation area.
  6. It does not require investment in maintenance, is easy to clean from various types of contaminants, it does not need to be specifically painted, etc.

Warm glazing

This type of glazing will allow you to use the gazebo not only in summer, but also in winter. The frames are able to retain heat and you will feel comfortable while inside. Traditional warm glazing can be made from the following materials.

  1. The simplest, most familiar and cheapest method involves installing simple wooden frames, solid or opening. The advantages of this method are the price and the ability to install everything yourself; besides, wood is an environmentally friendly material, absolutely harmless to others. If you want such gazebo windows to last longer, then you need to additionally impregnate and seal the frames. They look very aesthetically pleasing, but you need to take care of wooden frames very carefully, since wood does not like moisture.
  2. Gazebo made of plastic windows. Undoubtedly the most practical way. Such gazebo windows serve for a long time, are absolutely sealed, and protect from temperature, dust, moisture and noise. The disadvantage of structures is that under the influence of low temperatures they become brittle and can crack even from a small impact. You can choose a design of any color that matches the style of your gazebo. Plastic windows retain heat better than any other and do not allow the cold to penetrate from the street, which is why, if you plan to use it all year round, then it is best to glaze the gazebo in your dacha with PVC profiles.

PVC film for gazebo

PVC film is a miracle invention that will maximally protect both your gazebo from bad weather and you. It will not allow you to ruin your holiday or regular gatherings with friends in nature at any time of the year. After all, it will protect the structure itself from wind, moisture, and sun.

The film is made from high-strength, and, importantly, safe materials. Its temperature ranges from -40 to +40 degrees.

In conclusion, we would like to add that the choice of many has long fallen on PVC gazebos. Using a clear example, we have seen why this happens! Weighing all the pros and cons.

Every summer resident does not want to waste his precious time on constant care of the gazebo; he wants to come to the country, call all his “friends” and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

As a result, the gazebo benefits from durability, mobility and minimal investment. Follow popular opinion and see for yourself. The choice is yours!
